Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli ADM

Online casinos in Italy are regulated by the gaming division of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM). While online gambling has been legal in Italy since 2006, it was initially only permitted for localized operators. Since 2010, the market has gradually become more accessible to foreign operators, though all must obtain a license from the ADM and comply with strict criteria in order to legally offer their services to Italian players.

License Checking- How to Verify

To verify that an online gambling site is registered with the ADM (Customs and Monopolies Agency) in Italy, you can refer to the official list of authorized dealers for remote gaming, which includes all legitimate operators and their authorized websites. This list is available on the ADM website.

Additionally, the ADM also maintains a list of blocked websites that have been prohibited for offering online gambling without the proper authorization. If you come across any illegal gambling websites, you can report them by sending an email to monopoli.segnalazionesiti@adm.gov.it

Complain Submission Process

Players who wish to file a complaint about an operator they believe has violated ADM regulations must first download the relevant document from the ADM website. They should then complete the complaints and suggestions form and submit it to Giochi.reclami.online@aams.it. The regulator will respond within 30 days, investigate the issue, and take any necessary actions based on their findings.

How ADM Self-Exclusion Works

As part of the ADM’s responsible gambling initiative, players can opt to exclude themselves from all remote gambling sites by registering on the Unique Self Exclusion Registry, which was introduced in 2018 in response to the growing popularity of betting services among younger players (18-25).

ย

Players can choose an exclusion period of 30, 60, or 90 days, or set it indefinitely. During this period, excluded players will be unable to place bets or open new accounts. However, they will still be able to withdraw any outstanding winnings or balances. An indefinite exclusion lasts for a minimum of 6 months, and the ban cannot be lifted until this period has passed.

If the player has an SPID (Italian digital identity), they can access the ADM portal directly to request the exclusion. If the player does not have an SPID, they should request the exclusion through a licensed operatorโ€™s website. The operator is then required to immediately close the playerโ€™s account and register their details in the self-exclusion registry.
