Play’n GO was founded in 1997 in Växjö, Sweden, and is still privately owned. Johan Törnqvist, one of its co-founders, is the CEO. The main licensed company is Play’n GO Malta Limited in Valletta, Malta. Play’n GO says it has delivered over 400 slots to casinos worldwide.
Play’n GO slots are best known for two styles. The first is the “Book of ” video slot, made famous by Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead in January 2016: 10 free spins with a Special Expanding Symbol that covers whole reels.
Legacy of Dead and other Rich Wilde games build on the same idea. The second is the Grid Slot, where winning clusters drop away and charge a meter that unlocks a bonus. Reactoonz, Rise of Olympus and Moon Princess are the best-known examples, and newer “100” versions raise the multipliers to 100x.
The studio has a clear policy against bonus buys. It does not build buy features into any game, because it says they undermine stake limits and player protection. Every bonus has to be triggered in play. Play’n GO also makes table games and content for land-based and social casinos.
Play’n GO Malta Limited holds a UK Gambling Commission licence and a Malta Gaming Authority licence (MGA/B2B/225/2012). Its regulatory page lists over 30 markets, including Sweden, Spain, Ontario and six US states. In May 2025 the company said it will never supply sweepstakes casinos.

Yes. You can play over 120 Play'n GO slots free on this page with no sign-up and no deposit. The demos use virtual credits, so nothing you win in them can be withdrawn. They are a good way to learn how the Book of Dead free spins or the grid slot meters work before you play for real money.
Play'n GO is a privately owned company. It was founded in 1997 in Växjö, Sweden, and co-founder Johan Törnqvist is its CEO. The main licensed company is Play'n GO Malta Limited, based in Valletta, Malta. Unlike NetEnt or Nolimit City, it is not part of a larger listed group.
The studio's signature games are Book of Dead, its 2016 hit with a 5,000x max win, plus Legacy of Dead, Reactoonz, Rise of Olympus and Moon Princess. Play'n GO says Reactoonz 100, launched in October 2025, was its biggest game launch of the year. Try the demos to compare the video and grid styles.
There isn't one fixed answer. Play'n GO certifies every slot at five RTP levels, 96%, 94%, 91%, 87% and 84%, and each casino picks which one to use. The same game can pay back 96% at one site and 84% at another, so check the RTP in the game's help screen before you play.
The highest max win we found on Play'n GO's own pages is 25,000x the bet, in Colt Lightning. Rise of Olympus Extreme goes up to 15,000x, and classics such as Book of Dead pay up to 5,000x. Play'n GO has no bonus buys, so these wins can only come from features triggered in normal play.
Play'n GO only supplies casinos in markets where it holds a licence or certification. In the US, that means licensed Play'n GO casinos in states such as New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania. It refuses to supply sweepstakes casinos, so its games are not on those sites. Real-money play is 18+, or 21+ in US states.
